LT. GOV. OBRIEN HEADS TO ALAMOSA TO ENGAGE LEADERS ON IMPACT OF CURRENT ECONOMIC CLIMATE ON KEY PROGRAMS



Lt. Gov. Barbara O'Brien will be in Alamosa tomorrow to meet with a variety of area leaders to explore community needs and possible state support in the face of the current economic climate. 
Specifically, Lt. Gov. O'Brien will meet with leaders in education, employment training, and early childhood development and will use what she discovers to inform current discussions on the economy and on the upcoming legislative session.

9:15 a.m.       Lt. Gov. O'Brien will be visiting Jardin de los Ninos, an early childhood program.  Location: 1304 San Juan Avenue, Alamosa.

10:00 a.m.      Lt. Gov. O'Brien will receive a report from the community on service needs for Alamosa.  She will be joined by members of the Governor's Commission on Community Service.  Location:  San Luis Valley Mental Health Center, 8745 County Road 9 South.

10:30 a.m.      Lt. Gov. O'Brien will be visiting Milagros Coffee Shop with La Puente Homeless Shelter Director Lance Cheslock. La Puente and Milagros help train unskilled workers to gain employment.  Location:  529 State Avenue, Alamosa.

11:30 a.m.      Lt. Gov. O'Brien will be meeting with the San Luis Valley Early Childhood Council.  Location: Kavely's Business & Tech Center, 609 Main Street, Suite 101

Noon    Lt. Gov. O'Brien will be participating in a Luncheon with San Luis Valley school district superintendents to discuss the recently delivered P-20 Commission recommendations.  Location: Inn of the Rio Grande, 333 Sante Fe Ave., Alamosa.

1:45 p.m.       Lt. Gov. O'Brien will be visiting the newly opened Convenient Care Community Clinic where she will meet with a family to talk about the benefits and barriers to enrolling children in Colorado's Child Health Plan.  Location:  1131 Main Street, Alamosa.
