GOV. RITTER THIS WEEK: THREE STRAIGHT DAYS OF NEW JOB ANNOUNCEMENTS


Following Monday's announcement in Pueblo of 100 new jobs being added by The Water Company, Gov. Ritter will take part in two additional new-job events today and Wednesday in Thornton and Brighton.

10 a.m.            Gov. Ritter will take part in the grand opening of Ascent Solar's new 145,000-square-foot world headquarters and manufacturing facility. Ascent plans to add 180 to 200 new jobs over the next two years. Location: 12300 Grant St., Washington Square Business Park, Thornton.

 

3:30 p.m.        Gov. Ritter will sign the Lofgren and Johnson Families Carbon Monoxide Safety Act into law during a ceremony at a Denver fire station. House Bill 1091 (Soper & Court/Romer) requires the installation of carbon monoxide detectors in most single-family homes and multi-family dwellings sold after July 1, 2009. 8 p.m.              Gov. Ritter will deliver remarks at the opening ceremonies for SportAccord 2009, the annual conference of sporting federations from around the world. Location: Ellie Caulkins Opera House, 950 13th St., Denver.

 

Wednesday, March 25, 2009

 

11:15 a.m.            Gov. Ritter will join the ground-breaking ceremony for Vestas' two new manufacturing plants in Brighton. Vestas will manufacture wind blades and nacelle assemblies at the two plants, which will employ 1,350 people when fully operational next year.

 

                        Directions from Denver: Take Highway 85 north toward Brighton. Pass through Brighton to CR6. Turn right at traffic light. Proceed across CR27, continue 900 feet.

 

                        Directions from Loveland/Fort Collins: Take Interstate 25 south, take CO 52 to Fort Lupton. Turn onto Highway 85 south towards CR6. Turn left at traffic light. Proceed across CR27, continue 900 feet.
