REMINDER: GOV. RITTER KICKS OFF SUMMER OUTREACH TOUR TODAY


 
Gov. Bill Ritter launches a summer and fall statewide outreach tour today (Saturday, June 30), visiting two health care facilities and two renewable energy events along the Front Range.
 
The Governor will be visiting Boulder Community Hospital, Clinica Campesina Family Health Services in Lafayette, ultra-energy effecient Eagle Place Town Homes in Lafayette, and the Green Rocks ETown concert at Red Rocks Amphitheatre.
 
All events are open to the press, but please note privacy considerations at Boulder Community Hospital.
 
11:15 a.m. to              Boulder Community Hospital. Gov. Ritter will tour the Emergency
12:30 p.m.                  Room and meet with hospital leaders, providers and public health officials to discuss health care challenges and their ideas for reform.
 
                                    Location: 1100 Balsam (North Broadway & Balsam), Boulder.
 
                                    Note: Because of federal privacy laws, media will be required to obtain signed waiver before interviewing or photographing patients.
 
2 to 3:30 p.m.             Clinica Campesina Family Health Services. Gov. Ritter will tour this community clinic and then meet with clinic and other leaders to discuss issues specific to providers that serve uninsured, underinsured and other vulnerable populations.
 
                                    Location: 2000 W. South Boulder Road, Lafayette.
 
4 to 5:30 p.m.             Eagle Place Town Homes grand opening. Gov. Ritter will participate in the grand opening ceremony and then help install a solar panel atop one of the 60 apartments in this affordable housing project. This unique development is considered "ultra energy efficient" thanks to 418 solar panels, green-building construction practices and energy efficient appliances.
                                   
                                    Location: 1364 Cimarron Drive, Lafayette.
 
7:45 p.m.                    Green Rocks ETown concert. Gov. Ritter will address the crowd between the first and second musical acts at what's being billed as the most energy-efficient, enviro-friendly and eco-conscious concert in Red Rocks history.

SALAZAR, RITTER TO FLY OVER ROAN PLATEAU ON TUESDAY


 
RIFLE -- With energy development and environmental protection on the Roan Plateau as key concerns, U.S. Sen. Ken Salazar and Gov. Bill Ritter will fly over the Roan on Tuesday for an aerial briefing from natural resource and wildlife officials.
 
Following the fly-over, Sen. Salazar, Gov. Ritter and Colorado Department of Natural Resources Executive Director Harris Sherman will be available to answer questions from the media.

In a May 14 letter, Gov. Ritter requested that Secretary of the Interior Dirk Kempthorne grant Colorado an additional 120 days to review the Roan Plateau Management Resource Plan for oil and gas drilling atop the Roan Plateau. Secretary Kempthorne denied the request. Both Sen. Salazar and Gov. Ritter have expressed their extreme displeasure with the Secretary's decision and are pursuing other options.

GOV. RITTER LAUNCHES SUMMER/FALL STATEWIDE OUTREACH TOUR


 
Gov. Bill Ritter launches a summer and fall statewide outreach tour on Saturday, visiting two health care facilities and two renewable energy events along the Front Range.
 
"With the 2007 legislative session now complete, it's important that we spend as much time as possible with the people ofColorado," Gov. Ritter said. "I want to hear their struggles, gather their ideas and work together to craft solutions to those struggles."
 
The Governor will be visiting Boulder Community Hospital, Clinica Campesina Family Health Services in Lafayette, Eagle Place Town Homes in Lafayette, and the Green Rocks ETown concert at Red Rocks Amphitheatre.
 
Additional 2007 tour stops are still being scheduled, but tentative plans call for:
 
·         Colorado Springs/Pueblo area in early August
·         Northwest Colorado in mid-August
·         Western Colorado in early September
·         Southwest Colorado and the San Luis Valley in September
·         Eastern Plains in mid-October.
 
The outreach tour will continue around the state in future years as well.

Governor Bill Ritter declares Coloradans' right to safe and sober roadways - MEDIA ADVISORY


 
Governor Bill Ritter will make a pronouncement of Coloradan's right to safe and sober roadways, free of the dangers of impaired drivers. Governor Ritter will join the Colorado Department of Transportation, Colorado State Parks, Colorado State Patrol and local law enforcement agencies at a news conference to kick off Heat Is On! increased statewide DUI and BUI enforcement over the long Fourth of July weekend. The news conference will put the public on notice and encourage them to observe the holiday weekend responsibly. With the holiday falling on a Wednesday this year, the enforcement period will last a total of 102 hours, starting Friday, June 29, at 6 p.m., and ending on Thursday, July 5 at 3 a.m.
