12:30 P.M. THURSDAY: GOV. RITTER TO GIVE 'STATE OF STATE' CHAMBER SPEECH & SIGN BILL TO HELP BUSINESSES


 

9:30 a.m.                     May is National Foster Care Month. Two teenage foster children will be shadowing Gov. Ritter for the day, including reading a proclamation with the Governor declaring May 7 "Heart Gallery Day." The Heart Gallery Photo Project helps place foster children with families. Location: West Foyer, State Capitol.

 

10 a.m.                        Gov. Ritter will deliver remarks at the launch of the Colorado Meth Project, which is a statewide awareness campaign to prevent people from trying methamphetamine. Location: Legislative Services Building, Room A, 14th and Sherman street, Denver.

 

12:30 p.m.                  Gov. Ritter will deliver the keynote "State of the State Address" at the 3rd annual Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce Luncheon. He will highlight the accomplishments of the just-ended 2009 legislative session, and sign into law Senate Bill 67, one of Gov. Ritter's major economic development bills. The legislation will help banks provide loans to small businesses so  they can survive the economic downturn. A media availability will immediately follow at 1:45 p.m. Location: Downtown Denver Sheraton Hotel (formerly the Adam's Mark), 1550 Court St. NOTE – The luncheon itself begins at 11:30 a.m.

 

4 p.m.                          Gov. Ritter will deliver closing remarks to the Colorado Minority and Women's Chamber Coalition, where he will be encouraging women and minorities to serve on statewide boards and commission. Location: Radisson Hotel, 3333 Quebec St., Denver.

 

6 p.m.                          Gov. Ritter will deliver remarks at the Rocky Mountain Children's Law Center 28th Annual Celebration and Fundraising Dinner. Location: Denver Center for the Performing Arts, Seawell Ballroom, 1050 13th St.
