CDOT BREAKS GROUND ON FIRST HIGHWAY RECOVERY PROJECT
 

           

WHAT:           A groundbreaking ceremony to signify the start of CDOT's first American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) project.
 
WHO:             Governor Bill Ritter will join Doug Bennett Deputy Division Administrator for the Federal Highway Administration, CDOT Executive Director Russell George and other state and local officials.
 
WHEN:           May 19, 2009 at 11:30 a.m.
 
WHERE:        Belleview Avenue (State Highway 88) near Santa Fe Drive (event will be held behind the Discount Tire off of Belleview Avenue and Zuni Street).
 
WHY:              On February 17, 2009, President Obama signed ARRA into law bringing approximately $500 million in transportation funds to Colorado.  The paving project on Belleview Avenue is Colorado's first ARRA highway construction project to begin in an effort to rejuvenate our economy and get Coloradoans back to work.
 
VISUALS:      Governor Bill Ritter will unveil the highway signs that will mark each ARRA highway project and officially kick off the beginning of the first            ARRA project.
