GOV. RITTER REQUESTS ASSISTANCE WITH ALAMOSA SALMONELLA OUTBREAK FROM U.S. HEALTH & HUMAN SERVICES

Gov. Bill Ritter today submitted a formal request on behalf of the State of Colorado to the federal Department of Health and Human Services in response to the outbreak of salmonella in Alamosa, Colorado.

"While regional mutual aid and state resources have been supporting both their and our efforts to address this public health emergency, the local resources have become overburdened, and may soon become exhausted," said Gov. Ritter.  "The state is providing significant resources across several departments, but our ability to manage this emergency also is being seriously strained."
