GOV. RITTER DISCUSSES TRANSPORTATION, HEALTHCARE AND JOBS WITH RURAL RADIO STATIONS

Gov. Ritter today discussed how recent developments in healthcare, economic development and transportation are benefiting rural Colorado and leading the state forward.

"The first projects funded under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act is almost underway. Colorado will receive $480 million in these funds to be spent over the next two years," Gov. Ritter said. "Additionally, Colorado now has a new state sustainable funding stream to repair 125 bridges and roads listed in poor condition through FASTER."

About healthcare, Gov. Ritter was pleased to announce, "The House and the Senate have both passed the Colorado Healthcare Affordability Act and it is on its way to my desk to be signed. This will bring new federal funds into the state to help 100,000 presently uninsured Coloradans gain medical coverage."

Gov. Ritter also spoke about a tiered approach to budget cuts and this week's economic-development mission to Silicon Valley.  In addition, he responded to questions about Pinnacol Assurance, oil & gas regulations, and the state's upcoming bid for federal funds for education via the Race To The Top proposal.
