GOV. RITTER & LT. GOV. O'BRIEN APPLAUD PRESIDENT OBAMA'S SCHIP REAUTHORIZATION

Gov. Bill Ritter and Lt. Gov. Barbara O'Brien today hailed President Obama's signing of the SCHIP reauthorization bill.

"I am extremely pleased that President Obama and congressional leaders made reauthorization of the SCHIP program a top priority," Gov. Ritter said. "This is a great win for Colorado children and working families, and is an important investment in building a stronger health care system. Colorado's SCHIP program, the Child Health Plan Plus, provides access to health care services for approximately 60,000 kids and pregnant women. With more and more families struggling under the weight of a weakened economy, the President's signature ensures that Colorado's most vulnerable children will get the basic care they need."

"It's gratifying to have a partner in President Obama who understands the importance of providing basic health coverage to children and families who are facing difficulties in today's economy," Lt. Gov. O'Brien said. "As a long-time advocate for children's health care, I know what a relief it will be to parents to have this safety net."
