GOV. RITTER NAMES MEMBERS TO NURSING AND PAROLE BOARDS

Gov. Bill Ritter today announced the appointments of new members to the State Board of Nursing and the State Board of Parole. 

For terms expiring July 1, 2010, Gov. Ritter has appointed the following people to the 11-member nursing board:

Lisa A. Davis of Centennial

Carolyn Jefferson-Jenkins of Highlands Ranch

Dennis Kaw of Denver

Sandra L. Summers of Wiley.

The appointments require Senate confirmation. The State Board of Nursing examines and licenses registered and practical nurses. It also approves nursing programs and standards, and investigates complaints filed against nurses.

For a term expiring July 1, 2010, Gov. Ritter has appointed Maximo A. Atencio Jr. of Pueblo to the seven-member State Board of Parole. Atencio will fill a vacancy left by the resignation of Amos D. Martinez of Parker.

The appointment requires Senate confirmation. The Parole Board holds hearings and considers applications for parole and conducts all proceedings involving revocation of parole.
