GOV. RITTER ANNOUNCES APPOINTEES TO TWO VETERANS COMMISSIONS

Gov. Bill Ritter announced today that he has reappointed two members of the Colorado Board of Veterans Affairs and named seven members to the new Board of Commissioners of State and Veterans Nursing Homes.
 
The Governor re-appointed George D. Thomas of Denver and William "Bill" D. Sinclair of Colorado Springs to the seven-member Board of Veterans Affairs, for terms expiring in 2011.
 
Sinclair is a former member of the Colorado House of Representatives who fought in three wars: World War II, Korea and Vietnam. He is a retired colonel in the Air Force, having served more than 32 years of active duty. Thomas served in the Vietnam War, served as deputy commander of the Colorado Army National Guard, and is a member of the United Veterans Committee of Colorado. 
 
The Colorado Board of Veterans Affairs studies problems facing Colorado's veterans and makes recommendations to the Department of Military and Veterans Affairs and its Division of Veterans' Affairs concerning programs needed to assist veterans.
 
Gov. Ritter also named seven members to the new Board of Commissioners of State and Veterans Nursing Homes for four-year terms. The board was created pursuant to House Bill 07-1211 to advise the Colorado Office of State and Veterans Nursing Homes regarding the operations of nursing homes in Trinidad, Homelake, Florence, Rifle, Aurora and Walsenburg.
 
The appointees are:
 
Virginia A. Bedford of Denver, retired nursing facility administrator and resident care specialist
Gary L. Dickey of Pueblo, nursing home administrator, Skyline Pines Care Center
Lewis H. Entz of Hooper, a retired Marine who served 22 years in the state legislature
Alexandra Hall, military veteran, chief economist for the state Dept. of Labor and Employment
Patricia Jo Kendall of Fruita, clinical director, Hilltop Community Resources Inc.
Jayla Sanchez-Warren of Golden, program manager, Denver Regional Council of Governments
William "Bill" D. Sinclair of Colorado Springs.
