2017: All New Audi S5 Cabriolet footage

After the outing of the Coupe and Sportback, Audi has taken the wraps off its new generation A5 and S5 Cabriolet – which is now larger but lighter and can drop the top in just 15 seconds.

Both the A5 and S5 versions come with the stiffest body in the class, while at the same time being among the lightest. Torsional stiffness compared to the predecessor has gone up by 40 percent while the lightweight materials have lowered weight by 40 percent while the use of more lightweight materials has shaved off up to 40 kilograms (88 pounds), with the A5 model with front-wheel drive and a 190-hp 2.0 TDI engine tipping the scales at 1,690 kg (3,725 lbs). The design is unchanged from the Coupe and Sportback save for the drop top part, which is now packing a one-touch opening function at speeds of up to 31 mph (50 km/h). It also has a 0.6-inch (14-mm) longer wheelbase for 0.7 inches (18 mm) of extra rear legroom while up front there's an extra inch (26 mm) of shoulder room.

The A5 has added some 60 litres of cargo capacity for a total of 380 litres when the roof is up, has 50:50-split fold rear seats and an automatic tailgate control. The same engines from the Coupe and Sportback are in use – with the flagship being the turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 Quattro S5, which is up 21 hp (15 kW) compared to the older version at 354 horsepower (260 kilowatts) and 369 pound-feet (500 Newton-meters). The sprint to 100 km/h takes just 5.1 seconds and maximum speed is electronically-governed at 155 mph (250 km/h). At home in Germany the base A5 will start from €49,350, with the S5 kicking off at €67,800
